Auctions make business sense

Auctions make business sense Posted on : 1/20/2014
The auction industry has proven many times over that it plays a massive role in the property market, especially on the commercial and industrial side.  The auctioneering approach in South Africa has always been more corporate than in countries like the USA and that is but one reason why the auction industry has gone from strength to strength in our country.

“The auction industry is certainly one of the most dynamic industries you will ever come across”, says Rudi Herbst, Managing Director of SA Auction Group. “It is vibrant and extremely exciting, however, it comes at a price of very hard work and very committed auction teams”, adds Herbst.

This young and dynamic auction company has reached great successes in many different divisions but none as successful and notable as the commercial property market and that of construction and transport.  Herbst says that their professional approach towards the commercial property market allows them to always sketch the realistic picture for each client which has secured invaluable support from long-term clients across South Africa. “We attach great value to the knowledge that we share with our clients and the fact that we are more often right than wrong when it comes to market related values of properties”, says Herbst. The auction industry has evolved into the heartbeat of the commercial property market and that is exactly why owners of commercial and industrial properties prefer to build a long-term business relationship with a trusted auction company.

What are the reasons why anybody would prefer to sell commercial properties on auction?  According to Herbst the answer is simple; properties are sold much quicker by auction than simply being put on the market by a broker or real estate agent.  Property auctions also attract serious buyers and therefore there is no beating about the bush when it comes to selling a property this way.  Another important reason for selling a property on auction is that the seller is often under financial pressure and cannot afford for the property to be on the market for months on end.

A perfect example of this is a 25 000 m² prime commercial property in Boksburg that was actively marketed as an out-of-hand sale for the last three years without any success.  SA Auction Group stepped in last month and sold the property on auction for a staggering R12,8 million.

SA Auction Group has also committed to playing an educational role in assisting any potential auction sellers or buyers.  Not everybody feels comfortable with the idea of selling or buying on auction and therefore this company do consultations at no charge as to set any such individuals, companies or consortiums at ease and to discuss any particular situation they might find themselves in.  SA Auction Group also launches their online auction platform during June as well as their brand new website on which the online platform will be managed.  The first online auction will be a massive construction auction on behalf of the Raubex Group. Follow SA Auction Group on www.SAGroupgroup.co.za, Facebook and Twitter for all upcoming auctions.

Our auctioneers are also committed to educating the public in feeling comfortable with selling and buying through auctions.
